Respite 

Respite programs provide planned short-term and time-limited breaks for families and other unpaid care givers of children with a developmental delay, children with behavioral problems, adults with an intellectual disability, and adults with cognitive loss in order to support and maintain the primary care giving relationship. Respite also provides a positive experience for the person receiving care.

  • Respite is available most Saturdays between 9am – 6pm by reservation.
  • Transportation is available for an additional cost the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. A transportation request form must be on file. Click Here

  • $17M/20NM hr.

Respite Registration Guidelines

  • Clients can register up to one month in advance for up to as many hours as they are allowed, not to exceed 8 hours per day. This can be done in person or by e-mailing or calling Erin [email protected] or Bethany [email protected].
  • Clients are able to register for each Saturday that respite is offered as long as space allows.
  • Registration must be done at least 72 hours in advance to ensure proper staffing levels.
  • Transportation is available on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month with an approved transportation request.
  • We appreciate clients not attending due to illness or for other commitments that arise and for communicating those absences by calling the discovery room (262-947-3660).   
  • In order to be fair to all our participants, we reserve the right to limit availability if cancelling more than 2x in a month.

 

General Info

  • Participants are to be dropped off no more than 5 minutes prior to scheduled start of care.If a client is late, please call 262-947-3660 and let them know of a late respite arrival.If a client has not arrived within 15 minutes of the scheduled start of care, staff will call home.If no call has been received and no one has been contacted after an additional 15 minutes and no other client is scheduled, staff will leave. 

  • Clients are to be picked up no more than 5 minutes following scheduled end time for respite.Failure to adhere to this policy will result in a $15 late fee for every 15 minutes past the pickup time.Repeated late pick ups will result in late charges and possible denial of future care. 

  • Meals are not provided.Please come with lunch or money to purchase from concessions.Students may also eat ahead of time at home.A small snack will be provided by the staff for every 4 hours a client is scheduled.

  • Come prepared for activity.Respite care participants take part in a wide variety of activities including swimming, ice skating, gym time, fitness activities, time outdoors and more.Please be sure to pack appropriate clothes and swimwear for the day.All items should be labeled.

  • Transportation is provided the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month and must be scheduled at least one week prior to care to guarantee availability.Transport runs between 10am and 4pm. 

  • All medication must be in a prescription bottle with name, dosage, time and dr. listed.A current medication form must also be on file. 

  • Personal Care is provided, supplies are not.Please include enough diapers, food, pads and extra set of clothes for the day.If client wears diapers, a swim diaper for the pool is required.
